Inset Map

The Inset Map serves as a replicate of the Main map that can be zoomed or panned independently. Its presentation symbology is synchronized to the Main map. Since views can have labeling tied to map scale, it may show more text when zoomed in.

What's Different?

  1. The Cadastral Tools are not available.
  2. A special tool can be used to define its extent on the Main Map. read more...
  3. An optional graphic shows it's extent on the Main Map. read more...
  4. It is not loaded unless it is part of the layout.
  5. It can be removed from the application. This saves memory and improves performance if you do not need it.

Advanced Use

One of the best ways to use the Inset is to set its AutoZoom, and have the extent graphic on Main help you follow its location. Then you can use the "Next Error" action, or the up and down arrow keys to move through the features of interest. This makes it much easier to review the results.

  1. From the main menu select Options User Settings Application and make sure "Show inset graphic" is checked.
  2. On the Main Map if AutoZoom is enabled click to disable it.
  3. On the Inset Map click to enable AutoZoom.
  4. In the TestResults window, select rows or use "Next Error" action.

Tip: You can also use the Inset Map as an overview by disabling AutoZoom and working with the Main Map at large scale (zoomed in).
