The Inset Map serves as a replicate of the Main map that can be zoomed or panned independently. Its presentation symbology is synchronized to the Main map. Since views can have labeling tied to map scale, it may show more text when zoomed in.
One of the best ways to use the Inset is to set its AutoZoom, and have the extent graphic on Main help you follow its location. Then you can use the "Next Error" action, or the up and down arrow keys to move through the features of interest. This makes it much easier to review the results.
Options User Settings Application and make sure "Show inset graphic" is checked.Tip: You can also use the Inset Map as an overview by disabling AutoZoom and working with the Main Map at large scale (zoomed in).
